Bachata vs Salsa

Bachata vs SalsaBachata has its own night. DJ Victor Manuel is starting a Bachata evening at Layalinas Lounge in Sacramento. Pater Casillas will teach a beginning lesson at 8:00 p.m. followed by Bachata dancing until 10:00 p.m. Salsa and Bachata will share the floor along with Cumbia and Merengue from 10:00 p.m. to the 1:30 a.m. closing. Open to 18 and up. $5 cover.

They have a large hardwood dance floor and lots of free parking. DJ Pablo Montenegro spins the music starting at 9 p.m. including Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Bachata, Cha-cha-cha and more. No cover. There is a charge for parking which can be validated with a drink purchase.

Liquid (Miami Beach Club) November 20 was the grand opening of the Miami Beach Club at Liquid Nightclub. DJs Guillermo Torres and Victor Manuel have moved from the Doubletree to this venue. Salsa lesson at 8:00 p.m. with Nicole Lazo. The club has 6,000 square feet of party space including VIP booths and a wood dance floor. The club is open to 21 and over. Dress to impress. No cover.

Salsa Loca ClubThe Salsa Loca Club at Sacramento State is El Patrona student club formed in 2007 to provide students and members of the general public a welcoming place to get together to learn Salsa and other Latin dances. They offer free lessons at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and open dancing until 10:45 p.m. This venue closes during school breaks. Donations to the club are appreciated. All are welcome, whether a student or not. Parking on campus is $6.

The Steel Station is the place for Latin on Thursday night. Mister DJ Omar spins the music, providing a variety of beats including Salsa, Merengue, Cha-Cha-Cha and Bachata. A beginning Salsa lesson with Mike Del Campo starts at 8:30 p.m. with open dancing afterwards. No cover charge. Check out Latinos Domingos Sundays with three house DJs spinning the music starting at 9:00 p.m. No cover for women on Sundays until 10:00 p.m. The Station serves full meals all evening, has a full bar and offers a non-alcohol bar. Dress to impress, 18 and over welcome. Come early for parking in the Station lot.

Xcess LoungeThe downtown Fresca Deli is now offering Latin dance in its Xcess Lounge on Thursday and Saturday nights. Thursday is Bachata night starting with a 9:00 p.m. lesson.
